The Road to CWNE

So in the past six months I have decide to study and get myself up to the Certified

Wireless Network Professionals (CWNP) Certified Wireless Network Expert qualification. This is the highest level certificate that CWNP have. It is a very prestigious certificate in the wireless community with just over 300 people worldwide having achieved this certificate. If you compare that to Cisco’s CCIE route switch having over 50,000 people passing that level. The CCIE club really is exclusive. In order to obtain the certificate you must first pass the following exams

• Certified Wireless Network Associate (CWNA)

• Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP)

• Certified Wireless Security Professional (CWSP)

• Certified Wireless Analysis Professional (CWAP)

Once you pass these CWNP exams, you have to write three papers covering the three Professional subjects based on your experience in Wireless Networking.

Then have given back to the wireless community, by either having a podcast, blog or white papers, you will then need two references to back you up. While these references don’t have to be CWNEs it would go along way if you do get one. you complete you application similar to your university application to CWNP and they respond telling you if you cut the muster and make the club.

The reason I want to study for this is that one I love Wireless and love learning and increasing my knowledge in the subject matter and I think the CWNE is the benchmark on judging where you Wireless knowledge is.

Currently I have passed the CWNA exam late last year and currently studying for the CWDP. Which fingers crossed I pass in the next couple months. I have also setup this blog as part of my application. Plus this blog helps me with my studies by making me truly understand my subject area before writing blogs.
